The 4th Greece-Saudi Arabia Joint Interministerial Committee convened in Riyadh on Monday, 20 February.
Alternate Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos co-chaired the meeting with Prince Saud bin Khalid Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia.
Shipping and Island Affairs Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis and Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vasiliadis participated in the meeting. Also represented, by high-level officials, were the Ministries of Environment and Energy; Education, Research and Technology; Tourism; Digital Policy, Communications and Media; and Agricultural Development. The “Enterprise Greece” organization was also represented.
Almost all of Saudi Arabia's Ministries were represented, as were many of its independent authorities. Numerous issues of economic, educational and scientific interest were discussed, as were issues of cooperation on environmental protection, with the aim of promoting bilateral cooperation and attracting investments.
In the context of the Conference, “Enterprise Greece” presented a wide range of opportunities our country offers in the investment sector. The Saudi Arabian side made a brief presentation of the "Saudi Arabia Vision 2030" programme and the business opportunities open to Greek companies.
During the JIC, bilateral meetings were prepared between the Ministers who are to take part in the next JIC, which will involve more detailed discussion, decision making and deepening of economic cooperation.
