Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias met a short while ago, on the margins of the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, in Luxembourg, with the Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi.
Ms. Marsudi expressed her country’s strong will to work with the Greek side to impart momentum on all pending issues, while she made special mention of Indonesia’s pursuit of the lifting of the visa requirement for its citizens traveling to the Schengen area.
Mr. Kotzias assured his Indonesian counterpart of Greece’s readiness to assist on issues concerning Indonesia’s relations with the European Union and referred, for his part, to the challenges our country is facing due to the refugee issue, as well as to the usefulness of cooperation with Indonesia in this case. Moreover, Mr. Kotzias underscored the need for cooperation and exchange of views on issues that concern the functioning and decisions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, of which Indonesia is a member.
Finally, the two Ministers agreed to carry out an exchange of visits of the Political Directors of the two Foreign Ministries, with the aim of further developing bilateral relations.
