Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos sent a letter today to FYROM Foreign Minister N. Poposki, within the framework of the Greek government’s ongoing efforts toward improved bilateral relations and the resolution of the name issue through the UN process.
In the letter, Mr. Avramopoulos proposes, on behalf of the Greek government, the signing by the two countries of a Memorandum of Understanding that sets the framework and basic parameters for the definitive resolution of the name issue. The Greek side’s desire is the signing of the Memorandum in question, which will be a decisive step towards strengthening good neighbourly relations between the two countries, based on the resolution of the name issue and on FYROM’s European perspective.
