Foreign Ministry spokesperson Konstantinos Koutras stated the following in reference to the recent note verbale Turkey sent to the UN Secretariat General, submitting geographical coordinates based on its so-called “continental shelf delimitation agreement” with the pseudo-state:
“As Greece has repeatedly stressed, this text has no legal force whatsoever in the international legal order, it is null and void.
Turkey’s actions, which are manifestly illegal in terms of international law and run counter to the resolutions of the UN Security Council, continue to affront the International Community, attempting to legitimize the illegal military invasion and ongoing occupation of a large section of the Republic of Cyprus. In fact, the moment in time chosen to make these moves – a time, that is, of intensive activity and negotiations for the resolution of the Cyprus issue – clearly raises questions as to Turkey’s true intentions.”
