Greece, Cyprus and Armenia hold trilateral meeting on Diaspora affairs (Cyprus, 20 October 2017)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Terens Quick, met in Cyprus today with the Cypriot Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Issues and Overseas Cypriots, Fotis Fotiou, and Armenian Diaspora Minister, Hranush Hakobyan.

Αt this, first, trilateral meeting it was ascertained that there is a great deal of room for cooperation between the three countries on Diaspora affairs. The three sides agreed, in principle, to elaborate joint programmes oriented towards academic institutions, cultural foundations, media outlets and think tanks in countries where Greek, Cypriot and Armenian Diaspora communities reside, with a focus on the U.S. and France.

It was also agreed that the priority of this joint effort should be the youth of the three Diaspora communities. Finally, cooperation will also be aimed at raising awareness, in the appropriate manner, on the Pontian and Armenian genocides, and the illegal occupation of Cyprus.

The next trilateral meeting is scheduled to convene in Yerevan this coming December.
