The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organizing an International Conference under the aegis of H.E. the President of the Republic, Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, on the subject of “The Future of Europe,” on Monday, 13 March 2017, at 10:00 a.m. , at the Foreign Ministry's Kranidiotis Amphitheatre, 1 Akadimias Street.
Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos will make the introductory speech. Distinguished scholars from Greece and abroad will participate in the conference.
The conference will deal with three areas of interest, which pertain to the new challenges for Europe following the British referendum, European values and economic governance, and Democracy and the European State. The discussion is expected to focus on major issues in European current affairs, with an emphasis on the need to strengthen the democratic legitimacy of the European Union, particularly in the area of economic governance. The conference aims to identify and propose the best mechanisms for strengthening the E.U.'s social dimension.
