Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs Nikos Xydakis received, today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Admiral James G. Stavridis (Ret.), Fletcher School Dean.
Mr. Stavridis, in his capacity as Dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Massachusetts, praised the high level of knowledge of diplomatic personnel attending this year’s program at the Fletcher School in Boston through grants by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
The two gentlemen exchanged views on the crisis in the Mediterranean and the great challenges that Europe is facing. Furthermore, they discussed the economic crisis and the essential role Greeks abroad can play in speeding up economic recovery for Greece. ‘Greece needs an impetus for investment’, Alternate Minister Xydakis said, ’so that it determinedly embarks on the path for growth and so that our people get their self-confidence back’. Admiral J. Stavridis assured him he will be conveying his message in a speech he is bound to make before members of the Greek Diaspora over the coming days.
