The Deputy Foreign Minister for Greeks Abroad, Terens Quick, will sign a “Memorandum of Understanding on overseas community issues” with the Presidential Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, Fotis Fotiou, on Tuesday, 22 November, in Athens.
The Memorandum provides for, among other things, cooperation between the competent agencies of the governments of Greece and Cyprus; that is, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad, on the one hand, and the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots, on the other. Also provided for is cooperation on the level of organizations of overseas communities, as well as with corresponding competent agencies of third countries. Finally, the MoU puts special emphasis on activation of young Hellenes overseas, promotion of cultural and intangible heritage, and strengthening of learning and dissemination of the Greek language.
The Memorandum of Understanding will be signed at 12:00 tomorrow, 22 November, at the Foreign Ministry’s Seferis Hall (1 Vas. Sofias Ave., ground floor). The signing will be followed by statements to the press.
