Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcement on the blasting of the Thymios Liolis Monument in Krania, Finiq Municipality, Albania (23 July 2019)

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its abhorrence of and concern at the blowing up, at dawn today, of the Thymios Liolis Monument in Krania in the Municipality of Finiq and strongly condemns this act.

With the firm position that provocations against the Greek National Minority and, ultimately, against Greek-Albanian relations ought to be investigated immediately and perpetrators brought before justice, we expect appropriate actions from the Albanian side, at the soonest possible time, for the restoration of the Greek National Minority’s sense of security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Greek Embassy and Consular Missions in Albania are monitoring the case closely.
