Commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks
Consul General of Greece, Mr. D. Michalopoulos participated at the events which marked the 100th anniversary of the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks, which were organised, on 18 and 19 May 2019, by the Greek Genocide Commemoration Committee.
The Consul General gave a speech and laid a wreath on 18 May at the Australian Hellenic Memorial, noting in his address that the demand of Pontic Greeks everywhere for justice and recognition of the genocide remains as pressing as ever before. On 19 May, Mr. D. Michalopoulos was at St. Efstathios church for the commemorative service and also greeted guests at the speech of Prof. P. Diamantis at the Pontian Community of Melbourne & Victoria.
