Courtesy Call

The Consul General payed, on 25 July 2018, a courtesy visit to the Premier of Victoria, the Hon. D. Andrews at the Parliament House in Melbourne.  Also attending the meeting were the State Ministers J. Mikakos and P. Dalidakis, as well as the members of the Legislative Assembly, S. Dimopoulos and N. Staikos.
The Premier expressed his sincere condolences to the Greek Government for the victims of the 23-24 July bushfires and assured that his government stands ready to offer any kind of assistance to those affected, once the Greek side makes such a request.
The meeting was very cordial.  The immediate response of the State of Victoria to the tragedy in Mati proved again how close “far away” Australia is to Greece and how much the devastation that occurred in Attica region touched not only the Diaspora, but all the people in Melbourne.
