GREEK CONSULATE GENERAL RE-STARTS ISSUING SCHENGEN VISAS

Monday, 06 July 2020

The Consulate General of the Hellenic Republic in Melbourne, as of 6 July 2020, restarts issuing Schengen visas.  Applicants please note:

For visas to the Hellenic Republic Permanent residents and nationals of Australia residing in VIC or TAS can apply for all visa categories (C and D type).

Foreign nationals residing in VIC or TAS on temporary visas can apply for a Schengen visa at the Consulate General under strict preconditions, i.e. on professional or on compassionate grounds.  In this case, the applicant must declare to the Consulate General the date and the exact point of entry to the Hellenic Republic.

Please remember:
All travellers to the Hellenic Republic must complete the Passenger Locator Form - PLF at least 48 hours before their departure.  The form can be found at https://reopen.europa.eu and https://travel.gov.gr.

All travellers should verify with existing travel restrictions at their country of destination prior to their departure as well as with their right to leave Australia regarding the current travel ban in force.

Holders of Schengen visas and nationals entitled to a 90-day visa-free stay in the Schengen area should not take for granted that they can be allowed freely in the Schengen area.  Some Schengen states have imposed unilateral restrictions in their external borders, such as tests, quarantine etc.

Depending on the overall situation regarding the spread of COVID-19 in the EU Members States or beyond, travel restrictions can be eased or re-enforced.
The above-mentioned regulations apply until 15 July 2020.  New announcement will follow then.

For visas to France
The Consulate General of the Hellenic Republic in Melbourne, in accordance to instructions received by the competent French Consular Authorities in Australia, will only accept applications for student short-stay (type C) visas.

The issuance of the visa does not guarantee the capacity of immediately entering the French territory which remains linked to restrictions applicable at the borders and access to air travel.  The visa applicant will also have to make sure of:
-the conditions for return to their country of residence
-their right to leave Australia regarding the current travel ban in force
In addition, each applicant is required to complete and carry with them during their journey to France an International Travel Certificate and a declaration of honour certifying that they do not present symptoms of COVID-19, downloadable from this link: https://www.immigration.interieur.gouv.fr/Info-ressources/Actualites/L-actu-immigration/Attestations-de-deplacement-et-de-voyage
