Lecture on the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles (Melbourne, 12 December 2018)

The Consul General of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. D. Michalopoulos, presented the Greek position in the question of the restitution of the Parthenon Marbles, in the framework of a lecture, which was organised by the National Union of Greek-Australian Students (NUGAS), on 12 December, at the Ithacan House.  The main speaker was Mr. E. J. Comino AM, Chairman of the International Organising Committee of Australia for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles.  Great to hear also the experience of Mr. J. Mellas, Barrister & activist, who has campaigned extensively on the issue.

The President of the Hellenic Republic has describe the request of the return of the Parthenon Marbles as “Melina Merkouri’s vision” and with the continued coordinated efforts of young people, the Greek Diaspora and of the Greek Government this national goal can be achieved.
