Meeting at the Consulate General with the Trade Commissioner from the Office for Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Consulate General of Sydney and the President of the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Melbourne; Visit of the Consul General at the “Global Table” expo, in order to promote awareness on Greek Geographical Indication products (2 & 3 September 2019)
The Consulate General hosted on 2 September a meeting with the Trade Commissioner from the Office for Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Consulate General of Sydney, Mrs K. Gkikiza and the President of the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI) in Melbourne, Mrs F. Kypraiou, who was accompanied by HACCI member, Mr. A. Baoustanos. The discussion centered around issues of mutual interest, including the promotion of initiatives regarding trade between Greece and Australia.
The Consul General, Mr. D. Michalopoulos, accompanied by Mr. A. Baoustanos, visited, on 3 September the Greek stand at the “Global Table” expo at Melbourne Showgrounds. The participation of Greek companies of the food sector in the stand was part of an effort by the EU Delegation in Canberra, assisted by the Office for Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Consulate General of Sydney, to promote awareness on Greek Geographical Indication (GI) products, such as feta cheese, olive oil, ouzo and mastiha spirit. The former US Secretary of State, Mr. J. Kerry was a surprise visitor of the Greek stand and gave his stamp of approval for the quality of the Greek products displayed.
