Visit to Perth of the Greek Presidential Guard, to participate in the commemoration of the Greek National "OXI" Day

The Consulate of Greece in Perth has the pleasure to announce the full programme of the upcoming, first ever visit to Perth of the Greek Presidential Guard, to participate in the commemoration of the Greek National "OXI" Day:

Wednesday, 2 November
9.30 am: Participation of the Presidential Guard in the School Assembly of St Andrew's Grammar, WA for “OXI” Day

Friday, 4 November
12.00 pm: Procession of the Presidential Guard on St Georges Tce, from the Consulate of Greece in Perth to the Council House - Flag Raising Ceremony in front of the Council House

Saturday, 5 November
6.00 pm: Open Welcome Reception by the Hellenic Community of Western Australia Inc. and the Greek Australian RSL at Alexander the Great Club - RSVP at

Sunday, 6 November
10.30 am: Doxology for the “OXI” Day at the Greek Orthodox
Church of Evangelismos, 57 Carr St, West Perth

12.30 pm: Wreath Laying Ceremony at the State War Memorial, Kings Park - Change of Guard and tribute to the Cenotaph for a further hour after the end of the Ceremony (around 1.30 pm)

6.00 pm: Dinner in honour of the Evzones hosted by Floreat Athena

Everyone is welcome to attend; please make sure you register your participation with the organisers, wherever it is so required.

Apart from the events that are open to the public, we are honoured to announce that the Premier of WA, the Hon Mark McGowan MLA, will host a function to welcome the Presidential Guard.

Basil Zempilas - Lord Mayor of Perth and the Councillors of the City of Perth will, too, hold a lunchtime Reception for the Presidential Guard, following the flag raising ceremony at the Council House.

The Evzones will also visit:
-    The Aged Care Facility of the Hellenic Community of WA;
-    St Basil’s Aged Care Day Centre of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia;
-    The Greek Language and Culture Institute of Evangelismos to participate in the  School's "OXI" Day Assembly;
-    The Offices of the Archdiocesan District of Perth, where they will meet with his Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea;
-    The Consulate of Greece in Perth.
