

Representative of Greece to the Political and Security Commitee
Alexios Mitsopoulos
Alexios Mitsopoulos has been appointed PSC Ambassador of Greece since February 2025. Previously, he served as Deputy Political Director / Security Policy Director, in charge of the EU CFSP/CSDP Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2023-2025). He had also been posted twice in the same Directorate (2010-2015 as European Correspondent, and in 2001-2003).
As First Counsellor, he served at the Embassy in Ankara (2019-2023), where he also assumed the duties of Minister Counsellor - Deputy Head of Mission (2022-2023), and as Head of the Political Section at the Embassy in Washington D.C. (2015-2019), including his stint as acting Deputy Head of Mission (2018-2019).
In previous stages of his career, he had been posted as Secretary at the Permanent Mission to the UN (2005-2009), where he was elected Vice-Chairman of the Fifth Committee at the 61st Session of the General Assembly (2006-2007), as well as at the Embassy in Tel Aviv (2003-2005).
He has studied Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and holds two Master Degrees in International Relations and International Law, from the Aristotle University and the Fletcher School/Tufts University, in Boston.
Ηe speaks English, French, and has good knowledge of Italian and Turkish. He is married, with one son.
