Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, following today’s meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Brussels, 15 July 2019)
“Today I had the pleasure of participating in the Foreign Affairs Council. Beyond that, I was very impressed by the shared positions of all the colleagues on issues concerning Turkey’s provocations against the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus.
I am certain that, following this extensive discussion and the unanimous position of many colleagues, the result -when made public- will be in the right direction. In the direction, that is, of reminding Turkey of international law, the environment in which it must conduct itself, and the consequences that may result from conduct not compatible with international law.
Other than that, we discussed a variety of other issues, such as Iran, Iraq, migration, issues concerning central and sub-Saharan Africa. In all these discussions, our country had a significant presence.
Thank you very much.”
