2nd Annual Greek Lecture at the Royal Ontario Museum devoted to the art and archaeology of the Greek world: “The Griffin Warrior of Pylos, Greece”.

Tuesday, 26 September 2017

We are delighted to announce the 2nd annual lecture devoted to the art and archaeology of the Greek world, on October 3rd, 2017, 7pm, at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

The lecture titled “The Griffin Warrior of Pylos, Greece” will be delivered by Dr. Jack L. Davis, Professor of Greek Archaeology at the University of Cincinnati, who will describe the excavation of this remarkable grave, which included the discovery of four exquisite gold rings. Located a few hundred meters from the Palace of Nestor, though three centuries older, this unanticipated finding has afforded an unparalleled opportunity to examine funerary ritual, gender, and gender distinctions in burial practices.

We hope you can join us for the lecture at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) on October 3rd, 2017, at 7 pm. Guests should enter through the President’s Choice School Entrance.

With this annual lecture supported by the Hellenic Republic, the ROM will share the diversity of human experience and the extraordinary cultural legacies passed down from one of the world’s oldest civilizations, in one of the largest and most vibrant Greek neighbourhoods in North America.
