The Building
The current premises of the Residence of the Embassy of Greece in Canada, is located in downtown Ottawa, near the Rideau Canal in 534 Queen Elizabeth Driveway. According to Harold Kalman and Joan Mackie, ”Heritage Ottawa, 1976” it was built in the year 1910, by the then renowned architect, Ernest Werner Noffke. The first owner, lawyer Andrew Haydon at the time, who later became a Senator, chose this beautiful hilly site along the Canal for his residence. The premise was bought from the Government of Greece, represented by the then Ambassador Themistocles Chrysanthopoulos on the 12th January 1977.
