Message of Ambassador George. L. Marcantonatos on the occasion of his appointment as the Ambassador of Greece in Canada

On the occasion of my appointment as the Ambassador of Greece in Canada, I would like to underline that it gives me really a great pleasure to communicate with you all .

Hellenism Abroad is considered to be a major extension of Greece, beyond the limited geographical borders of our country.

You compose a second Greece, which is progressing, always active, and knows how to overcome difficulties, relying on your creativity, passion and hard work.

It is indeed this Greece that makes us proud and encourages us to look at the future with optimism.  Hellenes Abroad constitute a huge national asset. We greatly value your contribution to the historical evolution of our country.

I would also like to note that the Greek State is always willing to be by your side. Even under the present difficult conditions, it is ready to make every possible effort so that you may feel the presence and the direct interest of our mother country.

During the present critical period, we have to effectively address all challenges, so as to achieve our common goals, for the benefit of our nation.
The close, continuous and effective relationship between the Metropolitan Centre and the Greek Diaspora in Canada constitutes a major priority for this Embassy, as well as for the General Consulates.

Finally, I would like to underline that Hellenes Abroad are among Greece’s main objectives, since it is obvious that in this way our national interests are duly promoted.
