Conclusion of China International Import Expo 2023 (Shanghai) – 6th CIIE and Greece’s Participation
The sixth China International Import Expo Exhibition (6th CIIE) with the participation of 20 Greek companies was held from November the 5th to November the 10th in Shanghai. The opening ceremony took place on November 5th in Shanghai, with the presence of Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Staikouras, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis, accompanied by Secretary General of International Economic Relations and Openness and Chairwoman of the Board of Enterprise Greece, Mrs Maira Myrogianni, and Consul General of Greece in Shanghai, Mr. Georgios Partheniou.
Enterprise Greece, the official investment and trade promotion agency of the Greek state, under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized Greece’s national participation. Enterprise Greece actively promotes Greece's comparative advantages from food and agricultural products to start-up entrepreneurship, tourism, shipping, and, in particular, supply of ships. The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry also participated.
Mr. Staikouras attended the official reception ceremony in Shanghai on Saturday, November 4, in the presence of Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China, Li Qiang. On Sunday, November 5, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport represented the Greek Prime Minister at the Exhibition's opening ceremony. The Greek delegation visited the national pavilions and spoke with representatives of Greek companies participating in the exhibition. After the visit, the delegation attended an Enterprise Greece event at ‘Hellas House’, a private events venue, where the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis, highlighted the important role of Greek exporters in the Chinese market and the Greek participation at the 6th China Import and Export Exhibition in Shanghai (6th CIIE).
In an interview to Xinhua, Mr Staikouras referred to the pivotal role of the CIIE in trade relations between China and Greece. The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport stated: “It is a chance for the stakeholders of the global economy to exchange views, to promote global trade, to tackle common challenges and to create opportunities. This is why, for six consecutive years, Greece has an enhanced participation in the CIIE.’.
