Wednesday, 13 November 2024

The 7th China International Import Expo (7th CIIE) with Greek companies' participation was held from the 5th to the 10th of November in Shanghai. The Consul General of Greece in Shanghai, Mr. Georgios Partheniou, and the Head of the Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs visited the Exhibition on the 6th of November.

Enterprise Greece organized the national pavilion, with the participation of 20 companies (Pavilion 5.2) and a 200 square meter sectoral pavilion (Pavilion 2.2) of the Food and Agricultural Products Section. As the official investment and trade promotion agency of the Greek State, operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enterprise Greece’s mission is to attract foreign investment and promote the export of Greek products and services abroad. During CIIE 2024, in addition to the physical presence, printed material in Chinese was also distributed regarding the investment and trade cooperation opportunities Greece offers.

On the 8th of November, Mr. G. Partheniou also visited Cosco’s booth where he was briefed on the company's current activities in Greece by Mr. Panagiotis Tsonis (Deputy CEO).

Highlighting the important role of the action of Greek exporters in the Chinese market and the Greek participation in the China International Import Expo 2024 (7th CIIE), the Consul General, in an interview with CGTN, stated that Greece has actively participated in the CIIE since its inaugural event and will continue to do so in the future: ‘This year, Greece, through Enterprise Greece, has set up two pavilions: a national pavilion and a sectoral pavilion showcasing Greek products. Marking its seventh appearance, Greece aims to continually promote Greek products to the Chinese public and plans to maintain this tradition of participation.’

The CEO of Enterprise Greece, Dr. Marinos Giannoulos, stated: “Greece's participation in the CIIE strategically strengthens the presence of Greek products in one of the largest and most demanding markets worldwide. With China's population of 1.4 billion and the middle class continuing to grow, there is a strong demand for high-quality and value-added products, which offers us unique opportunities for extroversion and strong business relationships. Enterprise Greece, with the participation of 20 Greek companies in two key kiosks located at CIIE, promotes our country's qualitative and comparative advantages in sectors such as food and agricultural products. The growing confidence of Chinese consumers in branded and quality products from abroad makes the Chinese market an attractive market for Greek production.  Enterprise Greece is committed to continue supporting Greek businesses in their effort to expand into foreign markets, offering excellent products and enhancing our country's image”.
