Passports

As of 1st January 2006, passports are issued exclusively by the Greek Police. The Consulate General is in charge only of the following:
1. Collection of applications and all supporting documents.
2. Handing over passports to the rightful owners.

Applicants are kindly asked to contact the Consulate General in order to book an appointment and apply in person for issuance or renewal of Greek passport at: 00852 2774 1682

REQUIREMENTS

(A) Applications of individuals over 14 years of age.

1. Application and Sworn Statement (completed at the Consulate General).
2. Previous passport: (if applicable) - It will be returned to the holder until the delivery of the new passport.
3. Greek identity card or Registration Certificate from a Municipality in Greece (no more than six months old). The Certificate of Registration can be sought directly by the Consulate General upon request, if it is not available.
4. Two recent colour photographs  (the detailed specifications for the required photographs are available on the web page: www.passport.gov.gr). Moreover, the following photos shops have the specifications for Greek passports:

The applicant must ask for photos with the specifications for Greek Passports.

5. Males between 18-45 years of age,
(a) Who are under military deferment must provide a Certificate Type B.
(b) Who are military draft-evaders must provide a Certificate of Insubordination from their relevant Military Office in Greece (issued within the last six months).
If the applicant is not in possession of such certificates, we suggest that they first contact us for guidance before proceeding with their application.

(B) Applications of minors
In addition to the above mentioned requirements (1-4), the application for minors is done by both parents or in the presence of only parent with the written consent from the other, ratified by a Notary Public. If the parents are divorced and there is no authorization of the parent that does not appear at the Consulate General, a Court decision is required that gives the guardianship to the parent who appears before the Consulate General (copy of the court decision is required).

COST AND VALIDITY

Passports for individuals over 14 years of age are issued for 5 years and cost 84,40 Euro (paid in Hong Kong Dollars)
Passports for minors up to 14 years are issued for 3 years and cost 73,60 Euro (paid in Hong Kong Dollars).

REJECTED APPLICATIONS
In the event of the application being rejected, the Consulate General will immediately notify the applicant and inform him/her about the reason of ejection. The applicant will be reimbursed the fee paid on application, less 5 Euro which will be held to cover delivery costs.

DELIVERY
When collecting the new passport, the applicant, the authorized person or the legal guardian need to present the receipt that was issued at the submission of application and the previous passport (for subsequent invalidation).


LOSS OR THEFT OF A GREEK PASSPORT

In the event of loss or theft of a Greek Passport in Hong Kong or Macao, the Greek citizen should:
(1) Declare immediately the loss or theft to the Police Authorities of Hong Kong or Macao.
(2) Inform the Consulate General and provide the written declaration from the Hong Kong/Macao Police.

The Consulate General will issue for free a temporary Travel Document which will give the right to the applicant to return to Greece or to his county of residence. The applicant must submit the following documents: 1 colour photo, the declaration of loss/theft for the Hong or Macao Police and a copy of his Greek identity card (if it is not available the Consulate General will seek for a certificate of Registration from Greece).

The applicant has also obligation to report to the Consulate General the recovery of the lost/stolen passport.

ATTENTION: In case of lost or stolen passport, a new passport cannot be issued for the next 90 Days after the declaration of loss/theft.
