26/05/2020 Announcement by the Embassy of Greece on continued suspension of international flights and entry into China by foreign nationals.

Greek citizens who wish to travel to China are informed that, as of March 28, 2020, entry into China by foreign nationals holding visas or residence permits is suspended. Foreign nationals coming to China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or out of emergency humanitarian needs may apply for visas at Chinese embassies or consulates.

In any case, according to latest news, the number of international flights will remain limited until October 2020. Flights still operating and bound for Beijing are diverted to the following designated first points of entry: Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Hohhot, Shanghai Pudong, Jinan, Qingdao, Nanjing, Shenyang, Dalian, Zhengzhou and Xi’an. At these points of entry, all passengers are obliged to undergo detailed health control (including nucleic acid test), as well as a mandatory quarantine and monitoring period of 14 days in specified locations designated by local authorities and staffed with medical teams at their own expense. In Beijing additional stringent and restrictive measures are applied, such as controls at city entry and exit points, temperature measurement when entering buildings, compounds, hotels, the subway and public buses, use of a mask and prevention of public gatherings (Embassy Announcement as of 24/03/2020). Furthermore, mobile applications monitoring health, travel and contact history of their owners are used extendedly as a precautionary measure.

It is also noted that a temporary restriction of entering Greece for all third-country nationals is applied until June 15, 2020 and that a mandatory 14-day quarantine of all passengers arriving to Greece is required until May 31, 2020.

Regarding precautionary measures, the Embassy recommends that Greek citizens comply with the National Public Health Organization (EODY) travel instructions and refer to Embassy Announcements.
