Joint Statement on the First Economic Dialogue Between the United States and Trilateral Partners Republic of Cyprus, Greece, and Israel

Friday, 26 July 2019

The following statement was released by the Government of the United States of America and the Republic of Cyprus, the State of Israel, and the Hellenic Republic (Greece).

On July 25, the governments of the United States, the Republic of Cyprus, the Hellenic Republic (Greece), and the State of Israel met in Washington, D.C., to discuss the importance of economic engagement as part of our shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, security, and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

The session follows the joint declaration of the March 20, 2019, summit between the Republic of Cyprus, Greece, and Israel, with the participation of the U.S. Secretary of State.  At that session, Secretary Pompeo underlined U.S. support for the trilateral mechanism and noted the importance of increased cooperation.

Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Manisha Singh hosted today’s meeting with Republic of Cyprus Ambassador Marios Lysiotis, Greek Chargé d’Affaires Theodoros Bizakis, and Deputy Head of Mission of Israel to the United States Benjamin Krasna.  The officials discussed economic tools to address shared economic and economic-related national security issues.

The officials committed to maintain lines of communication between the United States and the trilateral mechanism parties on these and other economic-related issues, and to explore the potential for expanded collaboration.
