Repatriation of icons from the Netherlands to Cyprus

byzantineCeremony on the occasion of the repatriation of four icons which were stolen and sold illegally, after the Turkish invasion of 1974, from the church of Christ Antifonitis in Kalograia, Kyrenia District. The icons were handed over to the Republic of Cyprus by the Dutch Government, in a ceremony held at the Byzantine Museum in Nicosia, on Tuesday 24 September, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications & Works.
