The heads of Diplomatic Mission in Cyprus visited the Cyprus Institute (11-3-2014)

Τhe 23 heads of diplomatic missions , who visited the premises of the Cyprus Institute, led by  the Ambassador of Greece Mr. Vassilis Papaioannou, who organized the visit, in his capacity as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Cyprus , underlined the contribution of Cyprus in international scientific research and the role of the Cyprus Institute in promoting research , technology and innovation.

The delegation was comprised of the Ambassadors of ambassadors of Greece, UK, Australia, Belgium, Cuba, Denmark, France, Ireland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Venezuela, Brazil, Germany, Finland, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Italy and the United States.

Mr. Papaioannou mentioned that the Institute's activities extend internationally, adding that heads of diplomatic missions had the opportunity to see that Cyprus boasts an excellent aray of achievements  in research and produces a multitude of world class scientists .

The enormous importance of research and innovation, especially in countries under the yoke of an economic crisis, was emphasized by  Dr. . Erato Kozakou- member of the board of trustees. Visiting diplomats at the Institute, Mrs Marcoullis will act as catalysts in the development of further partnerships with research institutes in other countries , for the benefit of Cyprus , the region, Europe and the world .

The president of the Cyprus Institute Prof. Costas N. Papanikolas , stressed the importance of partnerships with leading research centers which enhance the regional character of the Cyprus Institute as a center of excellence in science in the Eastern Mediterranean . Mr. Papanikolas added that the Institute contributes to the development of the economy in Cyprus and in promoting peace and prosperity in the surrounding region , through science and technology .
