Trilateral video conference between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt on Diaspora issues (26/06/2020)
Today, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, K. Vlasis, participated in a video conference with the Cypriot Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Issues and Overseas Cypriots, Fotis Fotiou, and the Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs, N. Makram.
The three discussed the progress of the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt trilateral cooperation scheme via the ‘NOSTOS’ programme, in light of the changes to this year’s planning due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The three sides decided on undertaking new, alternative initiatives in order to sustain the momentum of the very successful partnership.
In this context, a video conference will be held on 18 July with the participation of physicians belonging to the Diaspora of the three countries to discuss the most recent developments in the response to Covid-19.
Furthermore, the three officials examined the prospects for the development of synergies between the organised Diaspora bodies and the competent services of the three countries, aiming at strengthening tourism during this season.
Finally, the three sides agreed on closely coordinating with each other in order to monitor the progress of implementation of the above actions and to further enrich the activities of the ‘NOSTOS’ programme.
