Duties and Responsibilities:

The Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Nicosia:

- Monitors and analyzes current developments in the fields of economy, trade, services, energy policy, transport, tourism, agriculture and industrial policy of the Republic of Cyprus.
- Monitors, analyzes and makes recommendations on issues related to bilateral cooperation in the aforementioned sectors, aiming at further enhancing the strong bilateral ties.
-Provides Greek companies with any useful information regarding the local market, as well as for the positioning of their products and services in it.
-Organizes business delegations to and from Cyprus and contributes to the participation of companies in trade shows held in Greece and Cyprus.
-Contributes to promoting business cooperation, to facilitating bilateral investment flows and to further developing trade relations between Greece and Cyprus.

Economic and trade relations between Greece and Cyprus:

The convergence of economic interests and the complementarities between various aspects of the economies of Greece and Cyprus are clearly depicted in the fields of bilateral trade, investment and tourism. For instance, Greece has been, since 2001, the first country of origin of Cypriot imports. The accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU, in 2004 and to the Eurozone, in 2008, contributed to further enhancing the strong bilateral economic and business ties. The close bilateral cooperation extends across a wide range of sectors, such as energy, transport, science and technology.
