Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Katrougalos, made the following statement after the conclusion of the proceedings of the Foreign Affairs Council:
"We tackled many serious issues today at the Foreign Affairs Council, from the Western Balkans and Ukraine to the situation in Venezuela. On all these issues, we took our stand on the basis of the established principles of Greek foreign policy, which is to seek the solution to problems only through dialogue, with respect to International Law, and by following, as far as we are concerned, a multidimensional foreign policy.
Especially on the issue of the Western Balkans, which is of direct interest to us, we have emphasized that we have consistently supported their European perspective - so as to stabilize the region and to bolster the prospects for democracy and prosperity of their own peoples.
We have all stressed, not only us, how important a step was the Prespa Agreement, and I, for my part, declared our commitment to it, with the understood condition that the other side also fully respects the spirit and the letter of the Agreement. The conversation with Ukraine continued.
On both issues, I underscored the important visit of our Prime Minister to Russia, and the related discussions he had with President Putin. I have confirmed our commitment to the principles of the European Union, and our willingness to be a bridge of dialogue with countries such as Russia and Iran, which was also one of the subjects of discussion in today's Summit.
