Speaking at the Concordia Summit 2017, which is being held in York (18-19 September), with the participation of distinguished members of the international political, economic, business and academic communities, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Katrougalos, stressed that precondition for the recovery of countries emerging from deep crises, is not only the restoration of confidence in a country’s economic prospects on the part of investors, but also, and mainly, the people’s confidence in the democratic functioning of the political system.
Mr. Katrougalos took part in the session on "Strategic Post-Conflict Investment from Colombia to Cyprus". Joining him on the panel were the former U.S. Senator J. Mitchell, the former presidents of Ukraine, V. Yushchenko, Colombia, A. Uribe Velez, and Bolivia, J. F. Quiroga, and other politicians, diplomats and NGO representatives.
On the margins of the conference, Mr. Katrougalos met with representatives of the business world, who expressed significant interest in investing in Greece, given the end of political uncertainty, return to growth, founding of a development bank, reforms in the private sector, and the new development law, which are creating a new landscape that is particularly attractive to investors.
