Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis hosts working luncheon for Greek MEPs (MFA, 28 August 2019)The Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, hosted a working luncheon on Wednesday for Greek MEPs, following an invitation he extended to all of the parties of the democratic arc. Mr. Varvitsiotis highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Greek MEPs, stressing Greece’s firm European orientation and the need for national consensus beyond party lines.

“The citizens of Greece showed that they believe in the country’s unswerving European course. We need to work together closely to achieve the national goals in the Union,” he stressed.

Mr. Varvitsiotis expressed his fervent, institutional support for their work, so that Greece can strengthen its position on today’s geopolitical stage, and he listened carefully to the stances of all the Greek MEPs. During the luncheon, he had the opportunity to talk about all of the major European issues, and particularly those of migration, economy, tourism and culture. Special reference was made to European funding issues, with regard to the drawing up of the new Multiannual Financial Framework, and in particular the Common Agricultural Policy and the Cohesion Policies.
