Political relations between Greece and Algeria have consistently been at a very good level since Algeria’s independence (1962), while there is an expressed political will from both countries to further promote and expand their relations. Our country recognizes Algeria’s stabilizing and constructive role in the Arab world and in North Africa, while firmly supports the development of Algeria’s relations with the European Union. Good bilateral relations expand into economic and cultural cooperation, as well as cooperation within international organizations.
On 6-8 December 2014, H.E. the former President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, paid a State Visit to Algiers, following an invitation of his Algerian counterpart.
