Greek-Croatian bilateral relations are governed by the principle of good neighborly relations. They have further been strengthened since Croatia’s accession to the European Union, on 1 July 2013, and are cultivated by frequent bilateral contacts at all levels. The countries share a mutual interest in expanding bilateral economic cooperation, an area with significant potential for further development, particularly in the fields of energy, tourism and infrastructure. Regional cooperation between Athens and Zagreb is at a particularly good level, within the framework of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), as well as regional initiatives and schemes of multilateral cooperation. Greece supported Croatia’s accession to NATO and the EU, as well as its recent accession to the Schengen area and the eurozone. Greece also supports Croatia’s application for accession to the OECD.
