Bilateral Relations
As far as educational relations are concerned, there is an Educational Agreement since 09.02.1983. The remarkable cultural ties between the two countries are also maintained through the operation of 5 university chairs of Greek studies. Ancient Greek is taught at the Universities of Helsinki, Turku and Oulu. In 2017 the Greek Language Department in Helsinki was recognized by the Greek Ministry of Education. The Commission for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles has been active in Finland since 2008. The Greek Community, established in 1973, has been reinvigorated by the younger generation of expatriates under the name "Association of Greeks in Finland". There are also 23 "Finnish-Greek Friendship" associations in the country, with Finnish philhellenes as members, who regularly visit our country.
