Greek-German relations are based on historical ties and are currently at a very good level. There is close bilateral cooperation within the framework of the EU and NATO, as well as frequent exchanges of visits between the two countries.
There is a (contractual and non-contractual) framework of cooperation with the German Government, which is based on the Greek-German Action Plan of 4 December 2016. The Action Plan concerns the coordinated development of bilateral relations with specific cooperation in a multitude of sectors (political, economic, technical, scientific, cultural, educational, local government).
