Bilateral Relations

Guatemala

Greece and Guatemala established diplomatic relations on July 2nd, 1965. Our country is represented in Guatemala via parallel accreditation of its Embassy in Mexico City. The Ambassador of Guatemala to the Vatican maintains parallel accreditation for Athens.

Useful Information
Greece has firmly supported international initiatives to assist Guatemala in the country’s democratization and the protection of human rights, while it has also dispatched humanitarian aid on several occasions. The main area of cooperation in our bilateral relations is the mutual support of candidacies within international organisations, especially the United Nations. Bilateral political relations between the two countries are at a very good level. There is a small number of persons of Greek origin in Guatemala.
