Bilateral Relations

Guyana

Guyana gained its independence in 1966 and since 1970 has been a member of the Commonwealth. The headquarters of the Secretariat of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are based in Guyana.

Our country is represented in Guyana via parallel accreditation of the Embassy of Greece in Havana.

Bilateral political relations are traditionally good and there is cooperation regarding mutual support of candidacies within the United Nations. Greece has provided Guyana with development aid in the past. According to data from the Consular Office of the Embassy in Caracas (former parallel accreditation), there is no Greek communitypresent in Guyana.
