Bilateral Relations

Iceland

The Embassy of Greece in Oslo, Norway, is also accredited in Iceland, while there is an Honorary Consulate General in Reykjavik. Iceland is diplomatically represented in our country via parallel accreditation from its Embassy in Norway.

The two countries cooperate harmoniously within international organizations such as the UN,NATO, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE. Greek Community The Greek community in Iceland numbers about 350 people and consists, in its majority, of Greeks who settled in the country during the years of the economic crisis and is organised in the Greek community of Reykjavik. For thirty years, the Greek-Icelandic Cultural Association "Friends of Greece" has been active, promoting Greek culture. Direct flights from Reykjavik to Athens and vice versa are scheduled to start 2023.
