Bilateral Relations

Kazakhstan

Greece and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations in 1992. A Greek embassy opened in Almaty in 1997 and was relocated to Astana (formerly Nur-Sultan) in April 2009. The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Greece commenced operations in 2009.

Bilateral Relations

Relations between Greece and Kazakhstan are steadily evolving, presenting ample opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation in economic and trade spheres. Investment, energy, construction, and tourism are key areas of focus. The two countries are actively engaged in enhancing their contractual framework. Collaboration in supporting each other's candidacies for international organizations is also evident. Since 2022, direct flights have been connecting Almaty and Heraklion in Crete during the tourist season. In December 2022, former Foreign Minister Dendias paid an official visit to Kazakhstan. Foreign Minister Gerapetritis met with his Kazakh counterpart in 2023 on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council.
