Greece's relations with Moldova are based on the long-standing historical and cultural ties between the two peoples and are characterised by a spirit of cooperation, friendship and mutual trust. Bilateral relations between Greece and Moldova are at an excellent level and have developed steadily in all areas, since Moldova gained its independence after the dissolution of the former Soviet Union. Greece is committed to enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the economic, trade and energy sectors. The President of the Republic Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou paid an official visit to Moldova on 28.2-1.3 2023. On 11-12.5.2023 the 4th Joint Inter-ministerial Committee on Economic, Technological and Scientific Cooperation was held in Chisinau. The Greek delegation was led by the Deputy Minister Mr. K. Fragogiannis. The President of Moldova, Mrs. Maia Sandu, took part in the Athens Conference on 21 August 2023 hosted by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis along with the participation of the leaders of the Balkan countries, of Ukraine and of the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. Moldova was granted the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union by a unanimous decision of the European Council in 2022. Greece has consistently supported Moldova's European aspirations.

Greece established diplomatic relations with Moldova on 27 March 1992. The Embassy of Greece in Bucharest has a parallel accreditation in Chisinau. The Greek Embassy in Chisinau is expected to open in 2024. There is currently an Honorary Consulate of Greece in Chisinau. Moldova opened its Embassy in Athens in 2003.
