Bilateral Relations

Mongolia

Greece and Mongolia established diplomatic relations in 1967. Greece is represented in Mongolia through the parallel accreditation of its Embassy in Beijing, while the Ambassador of Mongolia in Bulgaria is also accredited to Greece. Since June 2015 an Honorary Consulate of Greece has been established in Ulaanbaatar.

Bilateral Relations

The two countries maintain very good relations. On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on 14-16 February 2020, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries held a meeting and signed an Agreement of Visa Waiver for diplomatic and service passports, as well as a Memorandum for Cooperation on Tourism.

On 16 June 2011, in Budapest, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference of the Interregional Dialogue Process between Europe and Asia (ASEM), a Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation of the Foreign Ministries of Greece and Mongolia had been signed.

The conclusion of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and Mongolia in 2013 has paved the way for the expansion of the scope of bilateral cooperation, mainly in the economic and trade fields.

Greece and Mongolia cooperate in the framework of ASEM. Mongolia hosted the 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar in 2016.
