Bilateral Relations

Oman

Greece established diplomatic relations with Oman in March 1974, while accreditation of Ambassadors of the two countries took place in 1980. Our Embassy in Saudi Arabia, through parallel accreditation, represents our country in Oman.

Oman is represented in Greece by its Embassy in Rome.

Bilateral Relations

Greece’s relations with Oman are highly positive, as there is common ground on many international issuesand active cooperation in the framework of international organisations, especially in the context of mutual support for candidacies. The visit of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dendias to Muscat (19-20.10.2021), allowed for the deepening of the bilateral cooperation and the strengthening of the political dialogue, while constructive discussions were also held regarding possible Greek investments in the country. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding  for Political Consultations as well as abilateral Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of diplomatic, service and special passports were concluded. The Minister met his counterpart in the sidelines of the EU-GCC Joint Ministerial Meeting in Muscat (9 - 10.10.23). Their discussion focused on the Middle Eastern Issue and efforts to resolve it, as well as on the electricity connectivity between EU and Persian Gulf countries.
