Bilateral Relations

Taiwan/Chinese Taipei ٭

Greece adheres to the “one China” policy, along with the vast majority of the international community, including all Member-States of the European Union. Therefore, Greece recognizes only the People’s Republic of China as a country and does not have diplomatic relations with Taiwan/Chinese Taipei.

Taiwan became a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on 1.1.2002, with the status of a “separate customs territory” as "Chinese Taipei-Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Pengee, Kinmen and Matsu".

Cooperation at technical level is conducted directly between the interested actors, mainly in trade, maritime affairs, culture, sport and health.

A “Taipei Representation Office” was established in Athens in 1972 without any diplomatic or consular status.
