Bilateral Relations

United Arab Emirates

Our country has established diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since the first years of the state's independence (1971) and our bilateral relations are at an  excellent level. Greece maintains an  embassy in  Abu Dhabi since 1989, while the UAE maintain an embassy in Athens since 2008.

Bilateral Relations

There is mutual will to further develop the already good political, economic and cultural relations between Greece and the UAE through the exchange of visits on the highest political level, as well as through additions to the contractual framework between the two sides. To date, major bilateral agreements have been signed, including a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the two Foreign Ministries, the Agreement on Air Transport, and the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation, while the Agreement on Military Cooperation between the two countries has been ratified. Some 1,500 Greeks live and work in the UAE, of whom the majority reside in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
