Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament meets with the 29th Promotion of Candidate Embassy Attachés (25.02.2025)

The 29th Promotion of Candidate Embassy Attachés of the Hellenic Diplomatic Academy (HDA), accompanied by the Director of the HDA, Ambassador Michalis Diamessis, and Embassy Attaché, Themistoklis Tserliagos-Mpiris, were received on Tuesday, February 25, by the Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament, Mrs. Dora Bakoyannis, in the presence of Diplomatic Advisor, Ambassador Constantine Economides.

During the meeting, held in the "Pavlos Bakoyannis" hall of the Parliament, Mrs Bakoyannis spoke about the rapidly changing geopolitical environment and the growing challenges that modern diplomats must face.

The discussion focused, among other topics, on recent developments in the field of international relations, the role of the EU in addressing geopolitical challenges, Greece–U.S. bilateral relations, and the evolving dynamics between the U.S. and the EU. The Candidate Embassy Attachés had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views on critical issues of international affairs, as well as Greece’s and the EU’s stance on these matters.

Mrs. Bakoyannis also highlighted the key virtues that should distinguish a diplomat, which serve as the foundation for a successful career. Finally, she wished them success in their professional journey.
