The Joint Interministerial Working Group for Economic, Industrial, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation between Greece and Ukraine concluded its proceedings with the signing of the pertinent Protocol on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Athens. The Working Group was headed by Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy, Kostas Fragogiannis, and the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Oleh Nemchinov.
It was the 6th Session of the Group, attended by high-ranking officials from the Ministries of Education, Health, Infrastructure and Transport, Environment and Energy, Development, Rural Development and Food, Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy. Participation also extended to representatives from Enterprise Greece and the Hellenic Space Center, as well as to the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sophia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou.
The Group's work focused on the prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation between Greece and Ukraine across various sectors including trade and investment, energy, environment, science and technology, health, and transport. Particular emphasis was placed on the establishment of grain corridors.
Upon conclusion of the Working Group's proceedings, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Enterprise Greece and the corresponding Ukrainian investment and trade promotion agency, Ukraineinvest.
In his brief intervention at the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which was also co-organized on Thursday, February 15, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Investment Bank (EIB), Deputy Minister Mr. Fragogiannis stressed the necessity of immediate action to support Ukraine, both bilaterally and within the EU. In this regard, the Deputy Minister expressed Greece's readiness and commitment to contribute in every possible way to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
