Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Amanatidis meets with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem (Athens, 14.06.2018)

On Thursday, 14 June 2018, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Amanatidis met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with His Beatitude, Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, who is visiting Athens at the Deputy Minister’s invitation.

His Beatitude thanked Greece for supporting the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and referred in detail to issues of concern to the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre and the Holy Synod.

Mr. Amanatidis highlighted that Greece, in accordance with the long-standing national line, wants the Status Quo of the Christian pilgrimage sites of the Holy Land to be maintained and that there is a willingness to collaborate on further bolstering the Patriarchate’s social, cultural and educational work in the areas of the Middle East under its responsibility.
