Greek Chairmanship of the Council of Europe: “In discussion with ...” Victoria Hislop (15 November 2020, 18:00)

The Greek Chairmanship of the Council of Europe continues its online “In discussion with ...” series with award-winning author and journalist Victoria Hislop. The discussion will be live streamed on Sunday, 15 November, at 18:00.

Victoria Hislop rose to fame with her novel “The Island,” which was successfully adapted for Greek television. She was recently granted honorary Greek citizenship by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The discussion will be opened by the Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis. Site of the online discussion: Spinalonga. Panagis Galatsianos, editor in chief of the Athens daily Real News, will moderate the discussion.

These online discussions are part of the Greek Chairmanship's alternative digital actions, providing an institutional platform for dialogue – open to the public – with distinguished guests from Greece and abroad. The objective of these digital discussions is to bring the institution of the Council of Europe closer to society and citizens. The central theme of the Greek Chairmanship is: “Protection of human life and public health in the context of a pandemic – Effectively responding to a health crisis with full respect for human rights, the principles of democracy and the rule of law.”
