"Yesterday we had an important event in Athens. The European leadership celebrated with us the 40th anniversary of Greece’s accession to the European Union. "Greece received a great many congratulations for the vaccination program and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, while today the Prime Minister and the President of the European Council unveil the Green Digital Certificate, another Greek initiative adopted at European level", stressed Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis in an interview on ANT1 TV show "Kalimera Ellada" with journalist George Papadakis.
He added that keeping the country at the core of Europe has been a national goal, served by three different parliamentary majorities and three different governments imposing very harsh measures during the crisis.
Finally, referring to the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Tsavousoglou’ s upcoming visit, Mr. Varvitsiotis noted that there is no issue of “retaliation", as what Mr. Dendias stated in Ankara are firm positions of Greek Foreign Policy. He also noted that Greece's goal is not to jeopardize its image as a country that opens its doors hospitably even to those who disagrees with and added that Greece has always respected the rights of the Greek Muslim minority in Thrace.
